Is something wrong with my pump?

I just got a new wireless pump and for some reason it makes a loud but low humming sound. I can hear it from another room. It will do this for like 2 minutes then go away for 2 minutes. Its almost like the pump is adjusting flow fast/slow/fast/slow. But the thing is I have it set to a constant speed.

Also its VERY HOT. Untouchable hot and the motor is lined up with the shaft. Also no wear on the magnet and rubber spacer.

Check the pin spacer boot for proper setting and bent pins. I have seen numerous issues wxactly like this that was the result of the pin spacer having one or more pins bent. If so the spacer will not set evenly across the motor and it will heat up. Not saying this is the exact cause of yours but I had one here yesterday that kept heating and slowing down and everything was replaced "except" the pin spacer. After replacing the spacer all was fine and it ran only warm. Funny thing I can not explain is on this one there were no bent pins.

Untouchable hot? How hot is that? Is that the wet side or the dry side?
Is that bad for the tank?
I ask because I am interested in these pumps but am concerned about this heat / crazing issue.

Its hot enough to where I can only touch the dry side for like 2 seconds. I will tell you though that when I take the pump off and touch the dry side rubber boot (part that sits on the glass) that there is very little heat.
My tank is glass so I'm not worried.

The pin spacer thing is not very clear to me. I would assume the 5/8 space is the "deepest" groove. If so I had it set on the next groove "1/2" which is the thickness of my tank. Just as a test I put it on the 5/8 setting. It seems to put out more flow??? but is still hot.
I plan to buy another pump so I will see if it reacts the same.

Its been over an hour. The pump is still doing the slow/fast deal. Is it possible it gets too hot and slows down? Then cools and speeds up?
The dry end is too hot to touch.
Whats with the bent pins? Are they the three pins on the rubber boot? They look straight to me and go in the holes easily.

If they are straight and insert into the holes in the motor easily then the spacer should be fine. After what I experienced yesterday I feel there is still a possibility it could be a spacer/motor issue. Send me an e-mail to ecotechmarineservice@gmail.com and we can get this corrected.
