Is the AMERICAN MARINE PINPOINT PH MONITOR essential??

Hi Everyone!

Can anyone tell me if these are essential items for either for cycling or in the use with a reef tank? It is a AMERICAN MARINE PINPOINT PH MONITOR. I am not sure if they are essential or not or if they have problems associated with them.

I think it is a good product. Essential? Something to test pH is essential, but I would not call AM essential.

It's really nice to have cause u can see your ph at a glance.

it's more of a luxury than a neccesity, i have one and love it, but i would put that as one of the last things on my list if i were starting out.

Maybe not essential, but money well spent. A PH monitor can tell you a lot about how your overall system health is doing. By watching the daily fluctuations in PH, you can know better when you need to test other things. Just using a test kit, it is tough to really know what's up, due to your PH changes constantly thoughout the day. It just depends on what time of day you test as to what the PH should be at. I use a Pinpoint monitor, and it has worked perfectly for over a year now. They are good quality monitors.
