Is the placement of this clam OK?

So I just placed this calm in my tank and I am wonderring if the way I placed him on the rock is good or not....I am thinking that maybe the clam is slightly wedged and might not be able to open fully....If you look at the pics you will see how he sits in the depression of the rock and in the pics this is the max he currently opens....Thanks

That's a beautiful specimen...really like the iridesence. I would think that is enough clearance, especially given that it can open as wide as it does now. I would give it some time, and pay attention to the mantle. There may be a reason that it's not fully opening, not due to the placement. Good luck!

so what's gonna happen if he's happy is attach itself to a monster rock or worse 2 rocks. no moving him easily. does he have a small rock that he has already grabbed onto? if so, you're fine. if not, i'd get him to do so. no need for immediately in the rockwork.

he has not yet attached himself to my rocks.....what he has done is grabbed onto a few very small stones like the size of a nickel....this is how I purchased him...do you think he will discard/let go of those small stones and eventually attach himself to the stone I placed him on?

I just want to make sure that before he begins the process of attachment that the cup shape of the stone doesnt limit his ability to fully open.

When he was in the QT he definitely would open himself up more than he has now that he is in my DT....I am not sure if his lack of opening more fully is due to the combo of a new environment/stress or due to the restriction that I might have created.

NO I THINK THAT'S PERFECT. WHEN MINE HAVE A SMALL STONE/ROCK ATTACHED, THEY CAN BE MOVED ANYWHERE AND KEEP ATTACHED TO THAT W/OUT EVER DROPPING IT
