Not really...at least that I know of. Goniopora have been pretty well studied as have leathers(you can find some pretty good papers on these if you look) but most is just suposition and not proven. I started a thread a while back in the sps forum and I couldn't get direct answers from anyone. For instance Calfo swears up and down that most sps tanks are a toxic soup of allelopathy(coral chemical warfare) but I couldn't find one article on chemicals used by Acropora for defense/offense. I do not doubt that it happens from what I have seen with crowded corals on occasion but apparently it's extremely hard and expensive to prove.
