Just wanting to know if there is some resource out there to guage what different corals are worth per polyp, frag, colony, etc.

GREAT QUESTION!

I would love to see one. I always just guess. Never want to ask too much, but don't want to give things away either.

GSP $0 to $5 to pay for the rock
Zoos $2 to 5 for frag of 8+ polyp
Sps $10 a frag

Thats a guide :)

LOL if you've ever bought ANYTHING from wayne you know that he's not lying about this... He's very generous with his fragging..+

I had alot of very nice stuff in my tank that I got from him really cheap...

 Wayne is actually the underground Murfreesboro reef store. :D

I agree with Adrian... as with anything, the prices are what people are willing to pay. :)

its $10 till you smack Tyree to it. LOL !!! They are alot of nice corals out there that dont cost an arm and a leg though. Why do I always want the ones I have to take out a second mortage to get. :(

what is the break between a frag and a colony? size, number of branches, volume, other? and what is the basis for pricing colonies?

Most frags are going to be around an inch when your dealing with name brand corals that go from $25 to $100. You can get others that dont "have high dollar names" alot cheaper and alot larger frag for your money. The more common and faster growing a coral is the cheaper its going to be. The more rare and slower growing ones are always going to bring more money. My opinion would be a frag is from 1/2" to 1 1/2" on most and a mini colony is going to be around a 4"x4"x4" piece and so on. Hope this helps its just my 2 cents worth.

Oh yeah about pricing if your pricing one frag says its $25 dollars. Well if you were selling a colony of it to someone I wouldnt charge them by the inch for it. Kind of like when you bulk with anything. You need to lower the price some since someone is buying the whole piece.
