Is there a way of eliminating Xenia?

I have Xenia taking over my 90 gallon reef tank. I have cut it, injected with kalwasser and still return and grow in different places. I tough for me to kill any life form, but I am loosing my tank to Xenia.

Please does anybody know what can I do. to completely eliminate it?

Is there any fish that will eat Xenia, but will leave alone SPS LPS Clams and motile invertebrates?

Thanks for your help.

Run heavy PO4 removal (I mean Heavy, phosbuster, rowa phos, the works) and it will shrivel up and die due to lack of PO4, otherwise its manual removal. The only fish that I had that would destroy it was a metallic foxface.

Really? I better increase my PO4 then cause I really want my xenia to grow...

As for removing xenia, I wonder if peppermint shrimps will do it since they eat aptaisa?

I eventually had to just trade in the rocks. Scraping all of it off the rocks ain't easy. One option might be to take a chisel to the rock and sell the pieces w/xenia attached back to the fish store. My LFS gives me $8 per stalk.

I used aptasia control and injected it right on to the spots left behind after I scrapped it off. In a few other places it tried to come back, but I used a good stiff metal rod and twisted it into where the xenia was making a comeback and killed it off! I know that seems extreme, but this stuff is a weed and needs weed control! Torch corals work real well too! Mine killed a big stalk of xenia rather quickly!

+1
Work in one area of the tank at a time...manually take out all you can in that area and on the maimed xenia patches use Joe's Juice or Aiptasia-X. This works for shrooms that are taking over, too.

Good luck and keep us posted.

i have used aptasia x works great also there is a nudibrank that eats them exclusivly if you can find.I have also taken the rock when i could and put in my sump in my predator tank and in a few weeks was gone and never returned.
