Is there hope?

If not wrong this is a different species all together..

But the bucket method is the best way to go with these big dendro..

If I dont remember wrongly, Aquabac have successfully got them to open..

I really hope to see this turn out to be a healthy piece too, it is a sight to see it growing and opening..

Yes, I read the thread from Aquabacs, he was using the bucked method.
I will see how it goes in the DT, if it is not more improving, I will switch back to the bucket method.
Good thing is that all polys are moving (are apparently alive). I stopped counting the heads when I had 100
... :spin2:

Hahaha... I wouldnt try counting, I could just doze off..

Does anyone know the exact name of this type of dendro? Seems like all kind of names are floating around ...

Dendrophyllia fistula???

the species its self is not a hard one to take care of but its acclimation does take some time.

try a few different mixes to see what it likes.

Keep the bucket up trust me they will be ur favorite soon.pm I will giveu my phone number and help u out.they are starving and have been eating themselves that is why it us hard to bring them back.I no a coral Collecter that told me when the collect dendro they remove the so called fat heads and puml them up and sell them Indavidually and the bunches of small heads they sell as a hole and don't feed or care for them cause the are not worth much.they need allot of help when we get them.it is just a rumor about de dross that don't open they are just the small starving ones.he also told me there J's no way to tell them apart unless dead clean corallite.I use mysiss oysterfeast and reef caviar and I pullute the.buckets water with it.make sure u don't Bump the bucket and keep the water moving so all the polyps get fed.the first few times they might not open but they will absorbed the oysterfeast.I do this 1 1/2 hours at a time and it has hallways worked.the one u have has.no receeding polyps or on the stem wich is great I have see. Totally receeding ones comeback with the bucket method.it is impossable to tell what kind they are cause they can baby fatheads or the other.they can be branching or clumping.gl

Where are you located? I would be interested in some black sun's.
If you are willing to sell some. :D

nice job see, its adjusting now and is getting more acclimated. over time all the polyps will really fill out and eventually will get use to your feeding schedule.

as it gets more adjusted it will need to be fed less, but still often.

beautiful coral and good job , keep it up and it will spread fast;)

cheers

Thanks to all of you and all the encouragement!
They are starting to stay open all day.
Squat, I guess it will take a little longer until they look like yours.
