I'm looking to buy more nems and have seen lots of white malus with coloured tips. I'm know that a healthy nem is dark in colour but just want to know if there is such a thing as a healthy white malu nem. They look stunning in a tank but i don't want to buy a one knowing they are bleached or will turn brown later on and certainly not to encourage LFS to keep stcking unhealthy nems.

thanks...

H. malu's and crispas end up white because they are bleached. Most lfs by me they are near impossible to not find bleached. They should be cream colored, brown or slightly tan to grayish. Most can be brought back if they have not been that way too long with proper care, but should be left up to those with experience. They should still be attached and sticky. Sticky to me is the most important because if they are not they can’t eat. They need meaty food since there zooxanthellae can provide the proper nutrients. If they are not sticky it means they are already to weak.
