Is this a bad idea?

I've had this 20L sitting in my garage for a few months.

I want to put it on my breakfast bar. Question is, will the bar support the weight of the tank when full?

That's the longest 20L I've ever seen! Sweet tank! It should be Ok as long as its kept over the wall part and not just over the bar top lip

If you put it right over the wall section it should support it. It's framed out the same way the rest of the walls that support your house are.

I agree - has to be either a 33 or 40 long tank. They both have the length and width just the height is different.

I put a 10 gallon on that exact same type of bar counter right up next to the wall, even situated as close to on top of the support wall the counter still sagged on the unsupported side. So I went down to HD and got a couple of the Heavy duty shelf brackets and mounted them to the studs, rock solid after that.
