I've had a few myself, years ago. I had a Rock Python that was 6 1/2 feet long ( I babysat for about a year) along with a Burmese that was around 6 1/2 feet long (also babysat for same guy) & then my Little 4 foot Ball Python which I had for 5 years. I was never so happy to see that guy get home from Boot camp & then they sent him to Germany for 9 months, I was like

I used to be scared to DEATH of snakes while growing up, & my Dad would always say :If you fear it, then you need to learn to understand it, in order to break that fear, because fear is lack of understanding something: When he found out I bought a snake, he said, "I didn't quite mean it like that" :lol:
I would not have killed it, But I have a fair amount of knowledge about them, even that said I get spooked when I stubble up on any snake the way you did. I understand not everyone does though. At first glance I thought cotton mouth.
