Is This A Crazy Encrusting Gorg?

Bongo Shrimp

So I got a frag of this stuff from my LFS. They say it is Briareum which is an encrusting gorg right? Or if not Briareum what is it? Also, is it NPS?

Look- all I know is that this stuff is crazy cool and rare.

Not my pic BTW^

The picture you posted on the other forum that buddy took looks like Sympodium, it is photosynthetic encrusting soft coral. Could you post that picture here as well. A bunch of pieces hit stateside a month or two ago.

Here you go aquabacs:

Picture thief!

The reason I was sticking with the Briareum is when you see it in person the polyp really has no trunk. The polyp is tight to the body. I have yet to see a Sympodium that did not have a stalk. The polyp itself is very small. 2mm at best. Either way it is very cool. I just need my one inch frag to grow, and grow fast. LOL

It's only a stolen pic if you A. try to sell it and you didn't take it. Or B. Don't tell anyone that it is someone elses (which I did).

Oh, and BTW, I already have a waiting list for frags. :p

I don't see my credit? I don't want to cut it up I want it to spread. It will look sweet where I put it. Right where I was going to put that sponge that I never got around to picking up from you. :lol2: Seriously do you think it is Sympodium guys?

:fish1:

Buddy= Slapshot

Ok then Gordon, I guess that will do. :twitch: Now back to the matter at hand. Anyone else know anything about this coral. I put mine low in the tank but it still gets plenty of light and flow is moderate. It opened up the next day. I did have to fool around with it for awhile, I hate frags, so I did not expect it to open quickly.

Hmmm, I saw that too. Oh well, it is still cool stuff even if its not a Gorg. Hard to say, the picture of the rock makes the polyps look too big, if that is really over 4 inches.
