Is this a good macro lens for my Nikon D3200?

I don't shoot Nikon but I think my comments are comparable, others can chime in. These telephoto zoom lens that are labelled "macro" are a bit of a misnomer. They are not macro lens in the true sense, and if you are looking to use this as a macro lens for close-ups of your fish and corals, or anything smaller, you are likely to be terribly disappointed. It may be different with the Nikons, but typically the Sigmas, Tamrons, and Canons in that focal range that claim to be "macros" as well are anything but, and are more a marketing ploy. It could be a good all around zoom lens for you. I used to own a 70-300 Canon lens, but I don't think I ever used it to shoot my tank. My 18-55 kit lens at the time was a much better option. That lens combined with extension tubes could work well though, but I'd consider another opinion other than just mine.
