Is this a good tripod?

I think I might send in my order for the new camera I've been wanting. I'm just checking out some tripods right now since I rarely use mine, but I want to start using it more and get into landscape photography. Is this a good tripod? This one is the only decent feeling one that is in the area. No photography shops around.

The tripod I have now is a bit cheaper and the quick release won't screw in all of the way it seems. Never gets tight which could be the camera getting stripped.

I am into landscape photography, and I had a very similar Manfrotto setup. The more I got into landscapes the more I found that it really wasn't adequate. It doesn't look like that model allows you to dismantle the legs and clean them, one trip to a beach or sand dunes and you might wish you spent the extra cash on some legs that you can clean. One thing also to consider with landscape tripods that the legs can open up wider to allow you to get really low and remain stable, or to setup directly over a stream etc... The tripod you posted has fixed legs, which I found very limiting with a relatively high minimum height and a fixed center column (it is nice to remove it for me). Edit: Apparently, it has 2 angle positions.

I also personally don't like those heads, they are very time consuming and one minor adjustment in framing your shot may take far too long (but some people like 3 way heads for the type of photography they shoot). For Landscapes, ball heads are the only way to go in my opinion, and I doubt the tripod you posted has a removable head. I advice you to skip that tripod setup and go for a slightly better basic manfrotto setup like the 190xb or a 055X-- series or better:

There are other good manufacturers out there in that range, but those are just some suggestions. HTH
