I recently purchase this mandarin and is doing great in my full of flatworm tank, and i want to have a couple of mandarin, but i don't know if this is a he or a she.
Tank is a 140g with a 45g sump with fuge and about 5mm of flatworm (enought food for then).
Yup its generally very easy too, the second picture though its hard to make out if its a female or if the dorsal was damaged though... I know its common for the scythe on the males to be damaged when collected. Could just be me though haha. Just look to see if the fish has a long scythe on the dorsal or not, and you'll have your answer.
I take a better look today and is a he, the fin is not that long like in the pic, maybe it was damage but definitely have the spine in the fin and not the small fin the female have, and this fish is massive with big fins all over like the picture.
