On Saturday my RBTA moved from it's position in the tank, by Sunday it divided into Five RBTA'a! Wow it was cool to keep checking the tank and my wife saying, there's another one! Has any one had theirs divide four times before?

Hmmm...Maybe it split and then each clone split? I have had a RBTA split into 3 and I have had 3-4 BTA all split at the same time creating 6-8 BTA's.

I will post pics tomorrow. I have to wonder why did it divide so much? The clones look healthy, they take in food. I mean I could understand dividing into thirds, but to have one anemone divide into 5ths, that's crazy!

That's crazy, I've never heard of that many splitting from one...

That is pretty incredible. The best i have had is one single split, then the knucklehead got caught up in a powerhead.

not too be a downer, but repeated splitting (to that degree) sounds like something is amiss with your parameters. but before you tell me everything is perfect, consider alleopathy (sp) from other cnidarians in the tank could be causing chemical stress. I certainly wouldn't move any of the clones, but try having someone else test your SG, nitrates and see if your test instruments are not calibrated (I had a hydrometer get off and would read 1.025 as 1.028!!) Splitting of BTA's is a form of self preservation. Usually. Hope you're just lucky!

This is very true, mine have split many times and every time it has been due to stress.

Well all of the clones have been sold to my local area and all are doing great. I have seen pictures of the clones after being acclimated to their new tank. The momma anemone is also doing well also. I do test from time to time my tanks parameters, with all the proper equipment. Mostly I don't test unless one of my animals is showing some sort of stress. I am happy to report that all is well in my system, the SPS corals are growing at a nice pace, my LPS corals are open and happy and the inverts are also in good shape. I won't post that all of my parameters are are "perfect" because perfect is very subjectionable. All I can say is, the tank looks great. Momma anemone did seek a different place and I did move her, but it walked back. I now will leave her there. While I am talking about my RBTA walking, I would like to add, the fear of a RBTA or BTA walking and destroying corals in it's path is a very slime chance. RBTA's walk over smooth surfaces and in my SPS dominated tank, that means that it won't choose a path directly of any coral, of course the final destination can pose a problem if the tentacles are waving over a coral. With these anemones there is not a huge risk. I will feed her the same amount of food and hope for another splita-pooloza! I will post pics if I get time to do so.
