Is this Acan really worth it?

K my question is just that. I am thinking whether or not i should but this. So hear is the situation my LPS is offering this coral for $250 for 3 polyps. I unfortuantly couldnt get one b/c they said it was too risky. So do you really think its really worth it for me to buy it.

people will tell it's about supply and demand but I say it's not worth it. Just think how hard you have to work to earn 250 bucks.

Only you can answer the question if its worth it to YOU. I guess it depends on your income.

Way too much IMO. I've got about 8 polyps of what I would call the same exact acan or a very very similar acan. $10US/head is what I paid.

Keep an eye out in the for sale section here on RC, that is where I got mine.

Too much, I think too. I'm also waiting for prices to drop so I can get my first acan frag. From what I hear, they'll get down lower eventually

Nice, but not that nice. With a little patience, you can find the same, similar, or even better Lords for a lot less than that .

If you are a hard core collector the price might be worth it but as many of the seasoned reefers here will tell you, if you wait long enough you will eventually get this coral (and any coral) for much less than the current market price. I am not denying that this is a beautiful coral but at that price I would rather invest in Yahoo stock before M$oft buys em out.

That's way too much for only 3 polyps, if you will even get 3 whole polyps. If it's just been fragged (cut), you might get 1 full polyp and 2 partial ones etc... We have an LFS here that specializes in acans and they sell colonies for that price.

The only way to make it worth it is if you go in with 2-3 other local guys and you either each buy a colony and then frag and trade them with each other, or split the 3 polyps and frag them once they grow a bit more.

Try to find people in your local club who also want to collect rare acans. Sometimes, in order to start trading you might want to invest in 1-2 rare and expensive colonies, as that will allow you to trade with other members, but don't go about spending thousands on just yourself. You'll feel sick if you ever have a catastrophy.

It is a great piece. Worth 250? hmmmm not sure. One thing I know is that it wont look the same in your tank unless you have it in the same flow and light. I have some that I move around my tank all the time to try to get the best color.

well that why i never buy coral online is nice on they tank but never know what it will look in your tank. about is it worth it the price?? is all up to you. someone think $250 for aussie acans colonies some is even $600 ahead and is that worth the price????? one man treasure other trash. if i see a coral that i like i buy it. i have a Rhizotrochus Typus that cost $800-1200 ahead. lot of ppl say im crazy but i still buy it because is very rare in fact there no one out there is selling it so is all up to a person how they set there price on coral
