Is this Byssus on the clam?

I have had a 2" Maxima in my tank for about 2 weeks. It has been looking really good. I went out of town for 2 days and came home to this hunk of something hanging off the side of the clam. Clam still looks good otherwise. Is this normal? I saw another thread on something similar, but thought I would post a pic if someone could ID. thanks

i would say no, wrong direction. the byssus generally points down to the rock, rather than up away...... probably some kind of hitch hiker

I recently had the same thing near my crocea, I hae not seen a decline in health however.
