Is this Camera any good for taking Decent pics of my tanks/corals? Please Read

it's got a pretty good zoom range, optical 12x, closest focus is 10cm (about 4"), got some manual settings and has a decent ISO range. Wb has 6 presets plus a manual setting, that helps for tanks.

We have the Canon S2 IS and highly recommend it. I would also look at the S3 now that it is out and isn't much more to buy. I've only heard one complaint about the S2, but think it was an isolated defect problem, not a problem related to the camera in general.

It also takes awesome video with stereo sound! We were contemplating upgrading to the XTi, but decided to wait since our S2 does everything we need it to and are very happy with the results.

In order to take an accurate picture, you need to be able to tell your camera "what is white" under your picture taking conditions (halides, actinics etc.). You can do some white balance correction in Photoshop later if you take a picture of a white piece of paper at the same time as you take the other pictures.

S2 IS has super macro mode which focuses down to 0.
