Is this clam gaping?

i just put a clam in my tank as well its a crocea and its doing the same thing?? mine is very responsive to shadows (fish swimming over it high in the tank )

ive seen my clams do that from time to time that doesn't mean much... If it is responsive for now i would think its alright.

Thanks ludi. Whenever the lights change the clam very quickly closes up and then opens back up again, kind of like it gets surprised. Or if I put my hand over it is closed up as well. It stays mostly closed at night but opens nicely shortly after the lights come on.

not gaping, that is normal for a crocea clam especially one that is acclimating.

Thanks again, seems to be doing fine in my tank at this point. Its has moved very little and is very responsive to fish swimming over or around it.

Mine looks & does the same, I wouldn't worry. Just a note, from what I've read they like to be up on the rockwork. I put mine 1/2 wayup my tank and he was attached by the very next day.....again just my $.02.....

Is 150w mh strong enough for a crocea clam? I recently added one and noticed it has moved several times towards more lighted area.
