is this diatom?

i posted the pics below in another forum and some one said it looked like a diatom outbreak im new to the saltwater game and would like to know more about it

is it an alge and if so is it bad for my tank and what do i do to get rid of it ?

if not is it a good sign that things are going well in my tank

If you're just setting up this tank and its still cycling, then I wouldn't be too worried. Generally as the tank cycles there is a lot of nitrogen in different forms in the water and algae use this. Once the tank has stabilized, the amount of algae like that should decrease.
