Is this Elegance Coral dead?!

I got this elegance coral a month and a half back and it was fine for the first couple of weeks but then stopped opening up. In the last week or so it looks like it is disintegrating. Could you see the pics and say if I should still keep it in the tank or remove it. Thanks!

It is not looking good but I would not take it out yet. I can see some flesh in there and you never know if it will regrow.

I think it will die off, but as Jayball says; There is a small chance that it can still grow back. So I would keep it there as long as there is still some flesh left.

Thank you. I still see little bit of flesh in the coral . Will wait until all the flesh is gone. A recovery would be sweet

I pick up corals that look like that for $5 from the local stores. In the right conditions, they can recover.

I never give up on a coral until algae grows out of its skeleton.

Place it in a very low water movement part of your tank and try some shade. It might get back at its feet but thats gonna be a miracle.

Most elegance corals shrivel and die before 6 months are up.
Leave these corals in the sea....with starfish.....

Elegance from the indo pacific region seem to suffer from ECS, or elegance coral syndrome. Their tentacles get short and stubby, and they simply waste away to nothing.

Elegance from the aussie region do not seem to suffer from this disease. But if they come in contact with or the same water as a an elegance with ECS, they can also contract this disease.

It's the reason elegance aren't so bullet proof like they used to be a few years back.

FWIW, there is currently no cure for ECS and any elegance that contracts this disease is doomed to die.

this one fell off about a week ago. Still seems alive
