Is this enough skimmage to run a BB?

I am upgrading to a 125 from my 65 and I bought the only skimmers I can afford. I know its not H&S or Deltec, but I'm not rich either. I got the Remora pro with mag3 and a CSS 3004(the biggest one). I suppose I could have gotten one better skimmer instead of 2 so/so skimmers, but I like the idea of having a back-up. Along with that I have 2 U.V sterilzers rated to 125 gallons each. Since I have the Redsea wavemaker already :(, I,m gonna have to go with a bunch of MJ 1200's for current. I'm planning on 12 of them. Would this set-up be ok for BB or not good enough?

that's enough flow...but why don't you build a C.L., then you only have the intake in the tank

-my guess is that the CSS220 will pull more than the Remora, but thats just a guess.(They are both decent skimmers, like you said, not Deltec's, but they are reputable)
*i just upgraded from my 65g. to a 120g......isn't it great!?

My concern is that 12 at 20 watts each will produce a lot of heat. Keeping 12 separate powerheads in working order will also become a sisyphean task if you have high calcium levels. I was fortunate to have the funds for two Streams for my 150. If one needs cleaning and locks up, one of them is still moving the water around the tank. Maintaining two Streams is a lot easier than maintaining multiple powerheads.

I don't think the heat will be an issue, since now I run 6 on my 65 with no problem. Your right about the maintenance factor, but mine, with no maintenance last about 2 years, and MJ's are so cheap I can live with changing them when the die. For the moment, Tunze pumps are out of the question $$$. Maybe when these 12 go I will be able to upgrade that. Anyone know a link to find out about closed-loops?

I'm in the "i think you should go with a closed loop" camp.

Have you considered a pressure rated pump and penductors?

I'll check it out, but can a closed loop make alternating current? In the end thats what I'd really like to do.

You could set up a closed loop with a SWCD or Ocean Motions. Add some eductors or penductors with a powerful enough pump and you'll have some major random water motion.
