Is this feasible?

I like my T5's but I also really like the "shimmering" effect of MH...I have a bowfront and I have the canopy which is plastic so I can't mount anything in there. However, I was wondering how feasible it would be to run 2- 150watt MH and 2 T5's?...Or I'm open to suggestions because I really like the T5's.
I have the Finnex 6 bulb FIXTURE and I'm wondering if I could have it modded because whatever I do I have to keep it in that fixture....What do you think?

is the shimmering you're talking about the water surface rippiling and the light hitting it?

You could always gut the t5 fixture, get some MH retro's and build a canopy. I think that's probably your best bet.

That's what I was thinking however, I have NO IDEA on where to begin. If it would even be worth it, if I'd new reflectors, endcaps, etc..

Any suggestions on running MH and T5's on maybe a good setup?

That is what I was thinking too. If so just point a power head toward the surface of the water. That will cause a shimmering look on the bottom as well.

Reefgeek.com has good prices on retro T5 kits, combine that with a retro MH and put it in the hood.

However, that is alot for some shimmers. When I put MH's on my tank - I didn't think the shimmers were *all that*. But to each their own.
