Is this fish reef safe ?

This is the pelagic porcupine puffer a really cool fish it is essentially a normal porcupine puffer but it's blue and a bit smaller. But it is very expensive because it lives in the open ocean and is hard to find. Now I am wondering if it was reef safe because this fish does not live in reefs and they live in more open waters just like another reef safe species the blue throat triggers. So I though since triggers that live in open water tend to be more reef safe than this might be reef safe tom

I wouldn't chance it. I strongly doubt that it's "reef safe." Wonder if it was dyed?
No these are a actual species have looked into them and seen threads on them before . They are truly amazing I heard NY aquatics sells them I also seen them for sale on a website called master fisch they are really expensive.

The fish is naturally colored like that and is reef safe as in it won't eat your corals but it will consume any invert or fish it can get in its mouth

Is it as reef safe as blue throat triggers? And also is it any more reef safe than a normal porc ?

More reef safe than a blue throat trigger, but because they are a true peleagic vs just planktivorous like blue throats, they don't thrive in captivity unless the tank is huge.

Tank size ? I am guessing it's probably 180

When he says huge we are talking 500- 1000g+ tanks really 500g isn't something I consider huge. The bigger the better. Think something you see at a public aquarium size.

If you can even find it for sale.

They are more specialized since they require huge systems to thrive. Something that isn't just picked up and offered online much. If someone had a system that was large enough I could put you in touch with someone who could get one.

Also one will cost you $700-1000

They must have gone up in price a lot in the last few years. I remember seeing them occasionally for under $200.

I don't know about reef safe because when I had a porc puffer (not a pelagic one) I had an all fish tank, aggressive fish.

Saw one for £600 a while ago they seem cool. I have heard lots of conflicting info on them.
Here are 2 articles on them
