Is this frag toast?

LFS told me it was a monti cap frag. Turns out my research leads me to believe it's a Hollywood Stuuner Chalice. Was fragged from a monster specimen in LFS display tank. It seems VERY brittle. I noticed the top layer seems to be going away little by little. Idk if hermits or emeralds are picking at it. My perams are mint and everything is thriving

It should be fine if your tank is ready for SPS. Hollywood stunner as the name suggested is very aggressive and fast grower. Keep other corals 6-10" away from it.

Certainly not looking good. Try lower light to curb bleaching, look into any sort of dip like revive that may help it recover.

I’ve tried to see the sweepers at night but have yet to see them. The only thing close enough to get zapped is a Xenia so no worries as I have enough of that LOL

I agree with SDE, the shaded part looks ok and the ends out in the bright light are bleaching. Drop it to the bottom.

While we're at it, what are your parameters for alk, Ca, salinity? Mg, nitrates, and phosphates too if you have readings for them?

Just had water retested and everything was good but high nitrates. I just did water change Saturday but my tangs gotta go and I really need to cut down on feeding. I’m overfeeding for sure plus oyster feast every other day is just polluting my water. Sorry I don’t have the specific numbers as I rely on my LFS for testing cuz I’m there every week getting frags and rodi. But I will try to put that frag on the bottom but I fear he’s too far gone. Looks worse now as I’m just getting home from LFS

How high were the nitrates?

In general, to be successful keeping stony corals, you need to do your own testing for salinity, alk, Ca, and sometimes Mg. Throw in nitrates/phosphates if you suspect that you need to test for them.

Are you 100% sure it's not a montipora?

If you have corals, you need your own test kits. No way should you rely on another for testing. Plus when asking for help here people like getting the numbers. Not "everything is perfect". Did the LFS have any Revive? Been known to help. But yes move it to the bottom and even into the shade there a bit.
