Is this ich?

I purchased 2 lyre tail anthias yesterday and they looked fine in the tank I got them from, then they fit stuck in the rocks and my lfs had to somehow get them out. They eventually did and I brought them home an began acclimation immediately. During acclimation (drip method) one of them jumped out! I was there thank goodness and picked him up and put him back in all in a split second! But they still had no spots. Now this morning they were out swimming around and now are covered in white spots is this ich? Can it develope overnight?

Damn over night eh ;/ That sure looks like ich to me. They look like salt grains stuck on body ya? It took a month for my anthia to get ich that resembled your picture. Although it had fewer grains on him. Over a few days it got worse and looked exactly like your pic.

I'd start ich treatment asap! Check in disease/treatment section. Some really good info there. Good luck!
I had no clue it could get so bad over night. I'm still unsure of what velvet looks like in person but I heard that can progress really fast. But still, looks like ich to me. Definately get the pro's advice in the disease section though. I'm no pro.

How can I set up a quarantine and cycle it instantly? I really need to figure it out so that none of the other dish are at risk. Thy both ate the garlic mysis that I fed them this morning and are swimming around a lot!

Yes it is crypt. Do you have any sponge that's been sitting in the dt? If so then that could help you cycle your tank instantly. Do tank transfer or cupramine treatment.

If that fish is in same tank as your other fish I'm afraid they are all in trouble and the tank has to be fishless for 8 weeks.. You can expect any fish in same setup to get the same thing... Again, I'd go to disease section and read up and ask for help there. Don't rely on what I said. I'm no expert and only go by what I've experienced/read so far.

I have a doing that is the filter intake for my return pump and I also have a filter sock that has been in the tank fr a few weeks. And then do l just put the sponge in there and and then start acclimating the fish immediately? And can I put a small price of live Rick in there as well?

When I get home from school I am immediately setting up my old Cardiff bullet tank and adding in the filter sponge and price of live rock them I will let it sit for 20-30 minutes test the water and add the fish. Do I even need to test the water? Or can I just put them in. I am treating with hypo salinity because I don't like the affects that copper has on the fish. So should I start out at 1.026 like my tank water or should I slowly acclimate them to the 1.009 water immediately?

Honeslty, I've seen ich come on like that overnight. It'll happen when a fish with a weak immune system comes out of a holding system that is running copper or some other meds, and is added to a tank that has ich in it. IMO your main system has ich, and it wasn't brought in by the anthias either.

The tank it came out of was not running copper because it had snails, crabs and urchins.

Also it most likely did come from my tank but I have never had an issue with it before. I'm looking for help figuring out a solution not diagnosing the problem. Thank you for the help everyone

All of your fish need to be treated in a QT and your DT left fishless for 9+ weeks. The hypo sticky will guide you through the process. Have lots of water ready, you'll probably be doing a lot of WCs. After this has passed; use a QT with all new fish or you;ll go through this (or something worse) again. I hope folks will learn from your experience, it happens way too often. A QT is recommended everywhere, but most folks don't use one until there are big problems. Ich is easy to cure in a QT with just a fish or two; using tank-transfer.

I have 9 fish and only a 24 gallon thank what do I do? I am not able Togo out and buy a 55 gallon. Any ideas?

The spot are gone? I talked to my lfs that I trust very much and he said that it's probably iridescent scales because we can't see them at all in the bright white lights but in the blue light they shine. Also is it normal for them to lay on the sand and rocks like a goby or blenny? Cuz they do that alot and they are alsO extremely active and always swimming. Eating well and feeding with garlic. They also seem to want to be cleaned ALOT to the loin of sitting in front if the cleaner shrimp until he cleans them. One was even cleaned by my peppermint shrimp and it looked like he open his gills so that he could clean those. Is this normal?

Read the crypto stickies. You need to run your tank fallow for 9 weeks and treat with one of the recommended techniques.

I agree. The LFS scale theory just doesn't add up to the pic. The ich life cycle does.
