if so, please fill me in on something that eats it, ive about had it with tweezers, it just keeps coming back

Yes, Caulerpa serrulata. I am not aware of too many things that eat it. Some tangs will consume C. serrulata, but they won't always do so.. If you could find a saccoglossan sea slug, that could probably eat it, but you would have to 'pass' it on to someone else so it doesn't starve when the algae is gone.

I have it also. The yellow tang doesn't touch it and neither did my conch. It seems to be pretty distasteful. I suggest pulling it by hand.

yeah , thats what ive been doing, pia..................id like to know more about this sea slug, if it is indeed a lettuce nudibranch...........may be something to look into

a friend of mine had some forever and got tired of dealing with it so instead of pruning it and trying to yank it out, he just let it go sexual and it's gone. he didn't have a heavily stocked tank at the time and it did turn his water green, but it's gone...

anyone, is a saccoglossan sea slug and lettuce nudibranch same thing, thats what i gather from that link but im not sure

A Foxface Rabbitfish will make short work of that. I used to grow Caulerpa serrulata in my refugium to take out the nitrates and my Foxface just loved it as a snack!

I second that. My foxface took care of ALL my macro algae, and I had about 5 varieties at the time.

really? here i thought i read they wouldnt touch it, i did try a foxface a while ago, my yellow and powder blue tangs scared him a bit , he never really came out much and eventually died

They'll eat practically ANY macro.

I had a variety called toxifoila or something, and it even ate that, even though it was reported to be slightly toxic.

i figured the foxface with its spines would stand up to the tangs, i guess every fish is different..............should i try another?

Normally I would recommend a foxface, but in your current stocking list, he will struggle. You mentioned in your quote you have a yellow tang, and blue tangs, adding a foxface will be difficult in a 120g. I am not trying to tell you what your stocking level should be, just saying those 3 fish in combo are a difficult group to keep happy together in a tank of that size.

yes, all he did was hide, i actually wanted to add one more larger fish and was leaning towards a blue throat trigger, hes not as shy and may fare ok...............at the same time i want to try and combat this caluerpa, so that would bring me to my same question, is a saccoglossan sea slug and lettuce nudibranch the same ( i wish dr. shimek were still here ) ................

Sorry about that. Yes, a lettuce nudibranch is one of many saccoglossan slugs. They (or a relative) will probably enjoy feasting on the caulerpa. I would first find some and see if that particular species eats it. If not, look to a different one. You will find one that eats it, but once it is done, you will have to give it away or it will eventually starve.
