I ordered this light fixture for my sump will this be okay to grow macro algae? I am currently using power compact but 2 bulbs at 130 watts is a little pricey at the end of the month with everything else I am running.

It will grow algae. I had one over a refugium/frag tank for about a year before the female power supply plug (the one in the fixture) corroded away and failed completely. And I didn't like the very cheap way the legs work either. The more they are extended the more I disliked them. And when they start to get corrosion on them, they don't 'slide' back into the light very well.

Look around some more and I think you can find much better made lights (even for over a refugium) than these. But that's just my opinion. BTW, I have a 3 year old, cheap Chinese blue and white only led with no dimmers over my refugium & DSB now. It's used and it was dirt cheap since EverGrow has introduced low cost baseline fixtures into the market, other older leds that aren't full spectrum and/or don't have dimmers can be bought used for next to nothing.

Thanks Ron for your reply. I have a glass cover over my refugium and it is cleaned daily so, I think I should be okay with the corrosion issue. I thing the price is great as well as the power consumption. As far as the legs I won't have to worry about them ince the light fixture will be sitting on the glass. It's in a seperate room not under my take. I think from what you stated the light fixture would work fine. Thanks again.
