Is this normal - Acan Question

My lords sometimes seem to shrink (they expel water from their mouths and the heads get much smaller) for a short period of time (5 - 10 minutes) a few times a day. Sometimes it is the whole colony and sometimes just a few polyps.

Is this normal? If not, what is going on?

Mine do it all the time...(a few times daily) I think that it has to do with expelling wastes BUT I tell my wife that its just the mood they are in. Mine also seem to sometimes do it as a reaction to stress... If I add a chemical too quickly... or during a water change. After all for the most part these creatures are just small water bags entirely dependant upon their liqiud environment for structural support and respiration....

yeah ... you are right. no matter how frequently I see it happen, it still freaks me out.
