I repeated the freshwater dip on the same two clams as last time for 25 minutes. The pinching came back. ANd I believe it has spread to my prized 10" squamosa which is starting to pinch (who knows how I'm getting him out 
). Did not see any starfish in the bucket this time...
I will note that I have not managed to contain my alkalinity; three days ago it was 16 and I have not tested since but I did cut the mix time on the reactor in half and also the drip rate in half and have been topping off with regular water for the other half.
