whats your opinion.

I have 400 watt MH, i have had one other BTA for about 2 years, but i currently have raised Mag levels to battle algae. How much will this affect the new nem?

The anemone looks healthy. As far as your light, you might need to carefully acclimate the anemone to your light if it isn't currently under that much light. You can put near the bottom and as far away from directly under the bulb as possible. As far as your algae problem, how are your nitrates and phosphates? If those are elevated, why not wait until your tank is in good shape, parameter-wise before buying an anemone?

My nitrates and phosphates are fine, Its brynoprisis algae and its on the road to not being in my tank anymore. Im just asking. You dont think its a problem the middle is white and it has some white lines/speckles?

It looks a lot better than the one behind it. Are there any clubs or reef groups in your area? It would be better to get one from someone elses tank that is used to living in a tank.

I wouldnt buy that nem. First thing i check is that the mouth is tightly closed. on that alone its out. beyond that imo it doesnt look healthy

im not a member of any clubs. My girlfriend works at the store it is at and said it ate today. Thats a good sign. Its a bit stressed cause it just came in to the store today.

Im getting some yes's and some nos. Anyone else?

I wouldn't buy it. The mouth looks bad and the white on it doesn't look good. If you really want it, it should be cheap, and I would see how it does in QT for a while.

the owner actually wanted a higher price cause of the white speckles on the bubbles. Is that what you are referring to or just the mouth part?

i think he meant the mouth.

if that's the one you really want, you could give him a down payment to hold it for a week, and you can see how it does over the next week/10 days...

Actually, the anemone looks healthy. Its mouth mostly likely looks the way it does because it is acclimating to the tank. White streaks are common on rose BTAs.

thanks for the good info

Yeah, I wouldn't be hesitant at all to buy that RBTA. And, honestly, I wouldn't expect a discount. From the looks of the pic, the color is quite nice and the white specs actually might command a bit higher prices simply because they are less common. The white streaks radiating from the mouth are very common in RBTAs, but the speckles, not so much.

I agree with the last two posts, as did my girlfriend. And since it my bday present from her, it currently is acclimating to my tank. It is bubbling up really nice in the bag, looks happy and full. The white specs do look really unique and thats why he wanted a higher price. Lucky for me my GF gets a discount since she works at the LFS, so it wasnt that bad.

I will when it gets put in the tank. As of now im taking the acclimation process very slow. Heres what it looks like in the bag.

That's a beautiful rose. I wouldn't have passed it up either.

Every anemone I get in at my store looks like snot when it comes in and a few hours later you see which ones really were snot and the healthy ones perk right up. Even the first pic looks like a decent BTA having just been acclimated. And the last pics are great.

I dig white speckles.

Keep us updated and good luck!
