hey

i dont have a picture because my photobucket account is not working. i have a green slimer colony and last night i noticed one of the polyps was white and the part of the coral around it is white, now there is a size about the size of a nickel that is white. is this rtn? if so should i cut up the coral and throw out that piece?

It sounds like either RTN or STN. Usually with RTN you can actually see the flesh peeling off. Either way it doesn't sound good.

I have adopted a strict policy in my tank of fragging anything that startes to RTN/STN right away. Thats after playing the wait and see game 1 to many times and losing colonies that I most likely could have saved if I acted sooner.

right after i posted this i fragged it into 11 smaller pieces.

does the STN/RTN happen only on the flesh or under the flesh?

cuz i left some of the calcium skeleton under where it was.

i'm not sure what you exatly mean. Once the RTN/STN happens there isn't any flesh left. If you mean will it travel through the skeleton, I don't know. But when I frag stuff like that I cut into healthy flesh about a 1/4". Or at least a little bit.
