Seaclone's are notorious for being one of the worst skimmers. It's probably better than nothing, but it will likely give you all kinds of headaches.

For that tank you might consider a Coralife Super Skimmer 65. I've got the 125 and it works great and it's cheaper than most skimmers.

y r they surpose 2 be a bad skimmer?

some people say they r bad some say they r good,i dont know who 2 believe!!!!

I've got the jebo version of the seaclone, which is basically the same thing. It has overflowed countless times for no obvious reason. Getting skimmate of any kind is a total crapshoot. I have had it for over a year and still have to make adjustments to it to get it to do anything. It will probably put some microbubbles into the tank. And seaclone's aren't even all that cheap. Dr Foster & Smith has them for $69 and $79. The Coralife super skimmer 65 I mentioned is $75.

The CSS 65 has a better pump, that includes a needle wheel. That creates more and finer bubbles in the water and helps produce better skimmate. The collection cup's riser tube is very smooth acrylic. On my jebo (I assume the cup is the same on the seaclone) it is not as smooth. This causes friction that makes it hard for bubbles to get over the riser tube before popping. The CSS can be in sump or HOB. The seaclone can leak at the o-ring for the cup if you don't get it just right. The CSS has never leaked for me. Plus, the CSS actually works!

There are other good options too, I just have some experience with the CSS and I like it.

IMO no! But I say this based strictly on "my personal past experience." As a newbie, I made the mistake of purchasing a 150. It was inconsistant and took constant tweaking to produce even marginal performance. You can serach for all the available modifications to this thing. But IMO, having to re-engineer something brand new out of the box is an indication it's sub-standard. I kept the Maxi-Jet pump and use it to mix sw. I threw the rest of that thing away ...HARD!

Do a search on the Coralife Super Skimmer. Lots of people have them on there and really like them. I think they are second to Remora, but only half the price. I have a CSS 65.

I would have to say that they are definitely not the best skimmer around.......although I had a 150 that was tweaked a little that ACTUALLY produced skimmate!!! However most I see on people's tanks arent doing anything but swirling a little bit of air around with some water! Try something esle, theyre are plenty of MUCH better skimmers out there, even at that price.

I have a JEBO 180 it works ok but not as I would like it to. Take this advice buy a good one now and save the heartach.

Don't waste a single dollar on that skimmer. When I was a newbie had that skimmer and its worthless. Just my experience.

I had the 100 and I cannot tell you how much I disliked it. I finally ordered the remora for my 40 gallon. By being patient and searching here on RC I found a great Remora with tons of extra for less then my SC 100 was brand new. Godd luck and best wishes
