Is this SPS?

I am not sure, but that looks like a soft coral, possibly Efflatounaria sps. Does it contract or does it have a hard skeleton? I've never seen anything like it. Quite wonderfull!

its from the atlantic, a fiend found it when he was diving, around 10
' deep any clue??? seems to be spongy, can sponges have polyps?

Yes, there are sybiotic sponges with small polyps living within their tissues. They are two different animals creating a single symbiotic entity. Unfortunately, little is documented and from the Atlantic, I personally have no reference books. Try doing a search in the net for symbiotic sponges. Your specimen may need to be fed.

thanks,
