Is this tail rot? Is it a bacterial infection? How do I treat it? I’ve had this guy for 4 years.

Not sure that’s clear enough for any best guess.
Not sure what I’m looking at.
Looks like the result of a bite.
 
This is the tail of a large tank-bred Erectus. I’ve had him four years. No recent additions. 100 gallon seahorse only aquarium with 6 other seahorses. All the others look fine.

Looks like a recent injury of some type.
Had a similar looking marking on my dotty back, I assume a bite (intentionally or not).
Mine healed in 4 weeks or so, I did nothing, just let him be.
Buts that’s a fish, seahorse very unique, hopefully an expert with these guys chimes in.
