Hi All!

These are the specs for a Aqua One Aquis canister filter. The model is a Aquis 2200 from Aqua One. Is this particular filter Ok with mini reef setups? The tank dimensions are for this corner style unit are 24" from top to bottom by 36" x 36" which holds around 290 to 300 litres. There is a picture of it under my profile to see. The stats are as follows for the filter

2200lph
3 stage filtration
Complete with all media ( filter wool , activated carbon , coarse sponge , ceramic rings etc.)
Quick release taps ( multi directional inlet / outlet )
25mm inlet and outlet hose connections
18 litre filter volume
Ceramic shaft
Built in handles for easy maintenance
Heavy duty easy to use clips ensuring a tight seal
Quiet and extremely reliable
Aquaone reccomends the unit for upto 500 litres ( Personally from experience these units can easily filter a 800 litre aquarium )
56 watts

hi,

what are you planning on keeping? if its going to be a fish only...then you could use it with no real problem. If you want a reef...you would only want to use it with carbon. If you use the sponge part, you will have Nitrate Build up that is harmful to corals and inverts. I had the same problem with Nitrates for the same reason but now i only use Carbon and my tank has little or no Nitrates.
