just introduced clown trigger 2', blue line trigger 1.5", and harlequin 2" into 46 fowlr. i have 2 fiji damsels that were already there. might move to a 15 g. is that to much for 46 bow. i plan on upgrading this summer to a 190. im i safe till then?

just keep your eye on them and be prepared to remove or move a fish. you should be fine, but just be ready in case (that is the always necessary when mixing aggressives btw, not just because of your small tank size). you should also keep them fed pretty well, and remeber that simple rearranging of territories once one gets too dominant can sometimes be enough to stave off aggression for a little while.

IMO you can make it to the summer, but keep in mind that Clown Triggers are incredibly aggressive when they get larger. You may have to remove it even when all of the fish are in the 190.

In short. Yes too many fish. For the time being: no. BUt soon you need to upgrade. Someone mentioned the clown trigger getting aggressive when it gets older, true, but in my experienc blue lines are worse. Definitely will need a tank 6 feet or longer. My 8" clown swims a lot and would be cramped in anything smaller than his 135 gallon tank.

if summer = june/early july then you are good but keep a close eye as others have said. if summer = late september you may be pushing it.

You will know when it crosses the "too much" line if you have a test kit and stay on top of water parameters. If you are doing water changes every 2 weeks or 10 days (by when you start to see water quality degrade) and all the sudden it starts dropping to a week between degradation you will have your answer.

In the meantime a protein skimmer, live rock, and a oversized sump can help. Of course, there is always doing water changes more frequently.

The 190 will hold them for years. Someday the clown may get too big but odds are better he'll get mean as hell first. Keep that 46 handy in case someone needs some "time out". Also may help to talk out an evacuation/exchange arrangement out with your LFS before its a critical issue.

Hope this helps....
