Background.. I had an ich out break. All fish removed into Hypo salinity for 45 days.. tank fish free. after 45 days started putting fish back in.. left three fish in QT My emperor angle, (due to adding a blueface wanted him to get used to the tank) and two maroon clowns.. after about 5 days put the fish in the main tank.. and then.. this

fish looked fine in QT. I actually sold the maroons as they were a mated pair he said two days later they got these small white spots that brushed off easy and was breathing hard.. then died... both of them.. my emp is in QT right now.. looks worse than these pics today.. lots of loss of color. I added some coppersafe but i dotn have a test kit just followed their dose.. going to the fish store on friday to get a copper test kit and copper treatment.

yes every single fish was.. there was 25 of them.. a 150 rubbermaid and 55 gallon.. the blueface and emp were in different tanks but hooked together....

I doubt it is velvet because it is too easy to see in the photos and each spot looks well defined rather than a fine powder. What did you use to measure the salinity with? Do you know the difference between salinity and Specific Gravity? What was the salinity at? Did you check it and the pH daily? Was anything added to the system during the 45 days?

I would not use Coppersafe at all. Angels do not handle any copper other than Cupramine well and you need a good test kit to check the level twice a day with it. If you know a vet that can get you some Chloroquine phosphate then use it and it will give some quick relief. 40mg per gallon in Qtank. One treatment on first day only. Do not mix with other meds. You may have to consider an antibiotic after a couple of days. If so, remove the chloroquine first.

refeactor meter calibrated often.. salinity was at 1.009 nothing was added other than water changes.. all other fish look fine. lots of tangs and such.. Ph was checked all the time.. lowest it got was 7.9 I will get some cupramine tomorrow.... lfs has it with a test kit.

I know the SPECIFC GRAVITY was 1.009, but did you measure the salinity? What was the water temp? If the water temp is too high and you measure the SG instead of the salinity then the actually salinity can be too high to treat ich.

Please be careful with the Cupramine. It is important to go by the directions on the first day and just use the half dose on the first day and another half dose on the second day. Fish need some time to adapt to the copper or they will produce way too much mucus leading to great difficulty in respiration. Your fish is in bad shape. That is why I suggested the chloroquine instead to give some quick relief. Do not expose the fish to the air or use a net. I don't usually suggest lowering the salinity when people use copper, because the copper becomes very toxic if the pH falls. You have to be very careful with the pH when you use hypo. In this case, I would reduce the salinity as well to give the fish a better chance to survive. Keep a buffer handy and check the pH daily. Only adjust the pH in small amounts in any one day. Keep the temp in the normal range and constant. Do NOT use a FW dip.
