Is this what I think it is?

I don't want to remove the rock because it's holding up some other rocks. What's the best way to deal with it in the tank? As far as I can see this is the only one so far.

+1 on kalk paste. Turn off all of your pumps so the water is still. Use a medicine dropper or a syringe(with no needle) to cover the Aiptasia with the kalk paste. Let it sit for a few minutes then use a tube, like you would for a water change and suck the kalk paste, water, Aiptasia, into a bucket and discard. You'll want to suck out of much of it as you can, and make sure the whole Aiptasia is covered with the paste.

Okay, I'll try the kalk paste. It's only about 1/4inch so it shouldn't be that tough to cover. The picture is sideways and it's actually facing down, towards the sb, getting to it is going to be a PIA.

Don't siphon the aiptasia just cover it in Kalk paste and leave it. Physical removal should be avoided at all cost. They reproduce by pedal laceration and any piece left behind can grow a new nem. Just let the entire nem die where it sits.

Really? I was always told/read to syphin it out because after the power heads get turned back on it will blow that around and there's a possibility of some of the aiptasia getting blown on to a rock where it will begin to grow.

No you want to leave it there. Physical removal should never be attempted. It will wither and die as a whole. If you inject it then remove it, the base could be alive and all it takes is one microscopic piece left behind to grow another aiptasia.

Try 1-3 peppermint shrimp, just don't overstock them....or aptasia-x. Please no lemon juice....as it tends to acidify your reef tank...Kalk paste will probably work...where there is one...there may be more. Remember squeezing it releases spores so shut the flow off and cover the head of the aptasia thoroughly & let it digest the aptasia x or kalk paste before turning the flow back on 15-20 min later. Hope this helps!

I ordered aptasia x. I like that the kit comes with an angled needle for hard to reach places, should have it Friday to take care of this little bastard.

When I had a couple Aptasia I just boiled some water and used a syringe to spray it with the water. A couple of shots and it died in a day.

I've tried this 3 times on the same polyp. It shrivels up, I suck it out, 2 to 3 weeks later it comes back right in the same spot it was. I've even used 3 to 4 syringes of boiling water, to no avail. :headwally: Going to try kalk paste next, its just in a spot that is very hard to get to. If I have this right, I just use my regular old kalkwasser I put in my ATO, mix it up with some RO/DI so its a nice thick paste, smear it on the hole the aptasia is in?
