Is this apatasia? It's incredibly small.

It is.They grow and propogate. You should destroy them.

regardless of which it is (I vote for aiptasia) zero is the number you are looking for in your system. They are a very common hitchhiker, however, so finding some is not surprising.

My preferred method of extermination, especially when they are small in number, is a syringe and boiling water. You don't have to disturb any rockwork, and you can minimize collateral damage that way. Put the tip of the syringe right on top of the little bugger and give it a good 10ml or so. You want to make sure you have cooked it completely - any remaining viable tissue will regrow.

Kill it NOW before it spreads! In the past I have used a kalk slurry in a syringe when I was in a bind. Be prepared for the people at the drug store to give you a funny look when you ask for one to kill it though, lol. Good luck!

Many ways to remove but remember not to scrap, smash it, or anything that creates pieces of it as a small piece becomes another one somewhere else. Many pieces end up with many in many places.
Good luck. Patience and endurance as I had a tank full at one point and have none now.

I agree about killing it NOW!!! I didn't and my tank is completely full of them, they are everywhere including in my lines. I just got 2 filefish and hope they will at least control the little monsters.

If they're only on that one rock you could take it out and dry it to kill them. It's better not to kill them in the tank if you can avoid it because they'll just spread. The moment they feel stressed they release spores which will spread throughout the tank. I've used different methods including boiling water and Joe's Juice to kill them but lost the battle until I introduced 6 peppermint shrimps in my tank a few months ago. Now they are gradually decreasing. I've stopped worrying about them now. I enjoy scraping some off the walls of my sump to feed my shrimps every day.

I used Aipstasia-RX and Aipstasia-X and killed the over grown tank of them I had. Once every couple of day drowned them with one of those two products and a couple weeks later I had known. It's been a few months and have never seen another one.

Seriously go buy some Red Sea Aipstasia-X or RX, can't remember who makes the RX, or some Kalk and take those suckers out. $20 and a hour or two over the next week or so and gone. I have been through it and I wish I would have just done it begin with instead of reading and reading about it once I figured out what it was.

I use a Raccoon Butterfly in my FOWLR, a dozen peppermint shrimp in my cube, and have had success with everything from kalk paste to store bought remedies. It all works to a point depending on your particular situation.

With 20 bucks you could buy two or three peppermint shrimp and get ride of them on a natural way..thats how I do it and always work..the first days seems like they dont care about them but when sont even think about it they will be gone.

I totally agree with you about the shrimp and the natural way but I personally don't like shrimp, just my personal taste, nothing against those that like them as I know some things I like others don't. I think we all agree about Aiptasia and just get rid of them all together regardless method.
