Hi All,
I'm dipping my toes into the hobby for the first time. I'm trying to do what I can to not screw up, which has led to lots of reading on these forums before doing anything. Here's where I am:
160g display, empty
29g QT tank, 8 weeks of cycling with shrimp in stocking
After cycled, added 4 fish and I'm 5 weeks into watching them
1x Blue Hippo Tang
2x Ocellaris Clowns (condition of getting a tank was hippo/clowns for the wife...)
1x Royal Gramma
2x 4" PVC elbows, 2x ~2lb pieces of rock (aquamaxx dry rock)
1.024sg
77 degrees
0ppm Ammonia, 0ppm Nitrites, 20ppm Nitrates
pH 8.4
feeding San Francisco brand mysis, rods original, spectrum thera-A pellets
All fish were acquired via liveaquaria. Clowns and Gramma are fine, however...
The blue tang has been a worry since the start. After acclimation he just wanted to hide (laying sideways) under a rock, all day. He'll dart out to grab food, and if I stay still long enough he pokes out and swims around a little, eventually darting back under his rock where he'll stay. This has continued for 5 weeks with virtually no change.
After two days of not seeing him swim around, i decided to lift up his rock this afternoon and take a look at him. To my horror, he's covered in what looks like purple lesions (see attachments of each side of the fish) and moving pretty slow. After not being able to find a solution via the all powerful google, I'm appealing to you for help. Granted, a tang that lives under a rock all day isn't the most appealing, but he's my recluse and I want to help him if at all able.
What is all over him? And more importantly, can I do anything to help?
