Issue with skimmer

I just acquired a red sea Berlin x2 turbo skimmer.

It will be going in my sump this week. But I wanted to try it out beforehand. I hung it on the side of my freshwater tank and for the life of me I cannot get it to produce bubbles. I get huge bubbles. But not the fine ones. There was no manual and i can't find one online.

I have read in other skimmer issues that fresh water and salt water will produce different bubbles, you should get the fine bubbles in salt.

It's not going to work on the freshwater tank, you are dealing with completely different water chemistry. If it turns on, then you're off to a good start.

Yeah. I'm an idiot. Tired lol. Tried it on my salt tank hanging on the side. Still nothing. Just putting micro bubbles in the tank and the motor/ impeller is making one hell of a racket all of a sudden.
