My parents neighbor has a 240 that he wants to GIVE me along with all of the equipment and livestock...he says he's done with the hobby and that he would give it to me FREE!!!

well you lucky sob.....

Since christmas is about giving... you wanna give that right over to me... right :0)

LOL thats good man... you are lucky to live next to a guy like that

Sounds like its Christmas with the best Santa there is! I too have had people donate tanks to me due to moves whatever... but more like 10-30 gals. But a 240 is like the motherload! Congrats. So you want to have both tanks? Decisions... Decisions... hmm..

Good Luck,

Chris

He probably works for PG&E. :D

He has a Fish Only tank...two clown triggers and several of some kind of big silver fish that looks like a big silver pirahna.

I'm trying to decide if I want to make my 120 an aggressive tank, keeping his fish in the 120 along with my Lion and Snowflake Eel...

Definitely I will make the 240 the reef tank though...so I might sell the 120 and whatever equipment I can't use in the new set up.

But then again....maybe I'll set up both...but the thought of what the PG & E bill would be scares the hell out of me.

I saw a house that provided enough energy for there daily needs and also sold power to the local electric company.... Thats what i wanna do.....

if it's a FO tank, make sure he doesn't have any medication in it before or he didn't abuse the tank.
to be safe, I would not use the 240 as a reef. I learned it the hard way for using a used tank...

Can you please elaborate on what happened in your experience with the used tank.

Good Goal. Hopefully I'm wrong but I think in order to get the kick *** rebates, you need to install a system that is near your current AVERAGE energy consumption. Usually for us (especially with gas heat) winter energy consumption is much less than summer (AC loads). So it is unlikely you'd be selling power under these circumstances but your bill would certainly be a lot less. Mild months like April are great ones to see bills where PG&E owes you money. (yeah, right)
