its dones..... triggers are on hold! Subject to viewing them, obvisouly :D ...... I literally cannot contain my excitement!

Very nice...I just started my 240 and M & F Bluethroat are the likely next additions...Your tank looks great, keep the Angel IMO.

CCampbell, do I know you from somewhere?

Nice tank and congrats on the new additions. Where in Ireland are you and where do you have to go to get the fish? My grandparents live in keady in Armagh county and I go over every few years and visit. Absolutely love it!

I feel like such a traitor guys....... :(

I started off in earnest on my epic quest for my trigger pair this morning.... I set out at 7.15am..... arrived at the not-so-local LFS at around 11.30am....... I went in, while the boss (Mrs. mattsilvester) parked the car........

As soon as I saw them (the trigger pair) my heart sank...... I was a little disappointed in them, but it was not a show stopper...... however I knew "the boss" wasn't going to accept them......

When she came in, the male came forward...... her first comment was "where's the male - he's more colourful, right?"...... and right then I knew it was going to be a no-no.

So - long story short - I did not get my pair of triggers...... gutted...... but to be honest, I have to sort of agree with her..... they were a little "dull"...... and if the tank is heading toward "FO" then dull fish are a definite no-no.........

So - what I came home with was...... the pair of clarkii clowns...... which I must say are very nice..... and the mrs. was very happy....

But the "result" of the day was that there was a small niger trigger and a small adult clown trigger...... and "the boss" really liked them...... she always liked them in the pics, but in the flesh, she was well impressed. The majestic angel was gone, but there was a lovely little queen which has re-affirmed my desire for one ;)

I was really temped to get one of the triggers or the queen..... but I know from past experience its ALWAYS a bad idea to go to the LFS with the intention of buying one thing and coming home with something different....... so I am going to plan it properly and order what I want, when I want, with a little bit of preparation done first......

So......... no triggers for me today - and no pictures for you!!! Sorry about that...... but the saga has not ended!

I know what you mean Matt, I went to my not so local LFS (50 mins away) to get the M & F Bluethroats they had, only to find the Girl had been stressed and nipped up by a nasty Niger Trig during the weekend....Oh well, wasn't meant to be.

I had to remove some corals out off the tank yes the Emperor started to eat them i had this Emperor from a 2" baby to a large 9" full grown fish i lost the fish when my RBTA spawn in my tank and kill / crash the tank about a year a go.

Dunno how I missed the couple of replies since I last posted to this thread..... Steve (Zoom) thats a bummer that you lost yoru fish..... what is a bigger bummer is that I picked up a RBTA recently!

Well the angel stoped picking for a week or so......

....... then started again..... LOL......

I am reminded of a comment I read a few months back about angels in reef tanks - the question was asked "doesn't your emporer pick at your corals".... to which the reply was "yes, but he has not picked any of them enough to kill or seriosuly damage them"....... so I am moving forward on that basis.... hoping that the corals will grow, the angels habbits will "relax" a bit, and all works out well......

If not, I guess the corals will be going back to the shop..... :D

Browsing through old posts - thought I should update this one - for anyone reading up on the topic:

He has eaten all the pink star polyps - they're gone.
Sacrophyton - he seems to let alone
finger leather - its a 50-50 thing
devils hand - seems to be letting alone
'shrooms - green / green stripey / pinkish purplish - lets them alone
green star polyps - lets them alone
cabbage coral - started letting it be
RBTA - totally ignores

He picks at most the odd time, but the corals are still growing - all be it slowly.

Meanwhile, he's grown a bit, and colours have changed a bit.... he's now 7" - pretty much bang on 7" actually..... I have a 6" rule infont of the tank, which is actually about 6.5" long, and he is about half an inch bigger than that.

looking good Matt!

I hope that he continues to leave the RBTA alone. All it takes is for one taste of the anemone and it's good night irene.

Matt, my emperor and RBTA have been together for 2 years now. He has never touched it. But I think ccampbell is right, If either of ours ever does decide to sample to sample it they could destroy it before you even noticed!!!!!!! Best of luck to both of us.

Mine never had any interest to my RBTA for over five years .
you Emperor Looking very nice..... just be sure you are feeding variety diet mine had some HLLE after four years, i try everything to get it better, but never really go away .

Zoom, yes, I feed a good varied diet - no signs of HLLE yet anyway :)

Nice Pic by the way.

my purple tang's HLLE has cleared up completely now. When I first got him he has significant HLLE (nothing that I expected to scar - and it didn't scar either, thankfully) - but after a while it cleared up nicely......
