And back in my younger, faster days, I had a real love for Chrysler products. When they came out with the redesigned Challenger, I thought it was a thing of beauty. It really brought me back to the days when Mopar meant something. That's why I was really excited to see that Chrysler was going to release a new Dodge Dart for 2013. I don't know how many of you actually remember the Dart in it's hayday. It wasn't the fastest thing on the road, but it had it's own kind of style, and with that 225 slant six, they seemed to run forever. There are even a few from the late 60's still buzzing around out there with that characteristic "slant six knock"
The new Dart didn't hit me the way the new Challenger did.

Larry ..I was an ole skool MOPAR guy myself back in the day..I had a Roadrunner and a few others. I had some GMs too like a 442 etc..I really like the new Challenger, a few of my friends have them with the SRT8, nice car, but heavy. I don't care for the Charger with it's four doors. The new R/T model Dart isn't too bad with it's four doors. I'm a Mustang guy now with my old Foxbody, but I have a new Jeep too so I guess I'm still MOPAR....BTW some old Darts came with a 318 or rare 340 ci 4 or rarer 6 pack. Here you go....

Ah yes, the Dart Swinger. I don't think I ever saw one of them that was done up like that. I do remember the occasional 318, but the 340 Dart, with a 6 pack no less, eluded me.
I didn't mention the new Charger in my first post as it was that much of a disappointment to me.
I had a '68 Roadrunner. 440 Hemi and a blower when I was a kid. A piece of me died the night a brand new Benz (still had the window sticker and paper license plate in it) blew a stop sign and I totaled my Roadrunner on it. I T-boned that Benz and sent the driver to the hospital in real bad shape. She deserved to be dead for what she did to my car.
There were others after that (satellite, Coronet 440, Demon 383.....) but nothing ever came close to that bright yellow Roadrunner.

My Roadrunner had the 383, but I think if it was a 426 Hemi I would have killed her...LOL I surprised we never met before at any of the tracks or street scenes like Fountain Ave, Bethpage Burger King or still going on Wednesday nights Nathan's in Oceanside....I was also a regular down at Freeport on Saturday nights also for Run what you Brung....
this should bring back some memories for you...sorry it's the only yellow '68 I could find....

It's not a Roadrunner without the tail fin!
I was down at Fountain Ave for a few runs, but Cross Bay Blvd was my favorite place to go. I didn't go too often, and I rarely participated. No matter how unlikely, the thought of losing made me a good spectator.
I went to Nathan's once or twice and the Bellmore RR station is always a good place to see some machines that'll make you drool.
I know of one or two places where you can still catch the occasional speed contest.... You're retired, right

yup retired...LOL, but it absolutely crazy to race on the street nowadays and very very rarely even back then more of a spectator myself too. The Roadrunner with the tailfin and nose is the SuperBird ..talk about drool...
here is a '70 in your color..it was also available in blue, limegreen and huggar orange...

Former Dart and Demon owner here. Love what they did with the rebirth of the Challenger, not so much with the new Dart. I wonder if a V-8 can be shoe horned into the new dart like the old one? :lmao:

I haven't seen one yet, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be practical and really expensive to do all the suspension etc.. work that would be needed so I can see an aftermarket turbo or blower setup coming like they have for the SRT8...

I got an Oxy/Acetylene torch, and I know a guy that can weld^^^ ;) Take a sledge to the fire wall and move the mounts, I bet we could do it. Biggest hurdle would probably be in cooling.
