Iwaki pump question

Hi, I'm wondering what size Iwaki for a 58 gallon reef tank. Want to return water to a 3/4" seaswirl or SCWD. Do I need the pressure rated pumps for this or what? Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I would recommend the pressure pump for the SCWD, for the 3/4 Seaswirl you could run either one. The SCWD's inside diameter is 1/2" though, so probably good idea to use a pressure pump, although i imagine the circulation would still operate fine.

which size iwaki would you go with? Tank has the built in overflow and will only drain about 600gph. Thanks for resonse,Rob

Hi Rob,

I think i would go with:
IWAKI MD 30RLT (JAPAN) 510 @ 4FT

That will give you almost 10 times turn over rate and it's the pressure version, so plumbing it will be very easy.
