Just wanted to know, for those that have the American version of the Iwaki 30, does your pump run hot? I just installed my new pump yesterday and after a couple of hours, the pump body was really hot. i'm running 3 returns and all 3 have a 3/4th inch 90 elbow.. should i just have a small comp fan cooling it down?

what size tubing/pipe is going to the inlet of the pump? i know the pump is 3/4'' but you should be running 1'' or 1 1/2'' to it this will cause less heat.

Pump heat can be minimized, if you run the pump at high head height (high resistance). Since power consumption of the pump is decreased.

But
Efficiency Point of View..
(Amount of water moved by pump/ electricity bill you paid)

A Pump runs most efficiently, if you run the pump at BEP.
(Best Efficiency Point).

BEP is the point which the curve starts falling in the flow-head height curve.
Usually when a pump runs at approximately 2/3 flows of zero-height flow (max flow), the pump probably operated at BEP.

Measuring the pump flow is more easy than measuring the head height. You just need stopwatch and a marker for sump water level.

the smaller iwakis tend to run a bit hot as they do not have a built in fan like the larger iwakis.
