Jager heater issue

Hello Marine Depot,
I have a concern with a heater I just received today. I ordered a Jager Model TS Submersible Heaters , MD (item number EJ1121) which MD states as completely waterproof and submersible. I read the instructions with the heater and they have a warning never to submerge the heater, only mount in the vertical position, and not to allow the control knob to get wet. (Wow, good thing I read the directions!). Did I receive the wrong Jager heater? Nowhere on the box did I see it labeled as a model TS. Could this be an older version? Please help me resolve this as I definitely need a submersible heater and I cannot place this one in my sump vertically.
Thanks a ton Marine Depot,
Quentin

The reason it says not submersible (for the us only) is because they have not yet renewed their license in the usa. I have mine submerged no problems from it.

Thanks for the help Chris. I read the directions in French and Spanish too and both said "do not submerge". Strangely enough though, on the side of the box it says submersible in every language. Normally I would not be such a weenie, but a malfunctioning heater is about the easiest way to throw several grand in corals down the drain. http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/setupequipment/tp/TPheaters.htm also says the heater is not submersible but they are also probably just getting that off of the instructions.

But so Chris, was yours also not clearly labeled as a model TS? Do you think they are the same model or is yours newer and mine was a left over from a previous shipment?

Thanks for the help,
Quentin

Hello,

Thanks for your post. The Jager heaters are fully submersible. Jager places those instructions on the box and has the water line on the heater so they are able to have the heater UL approved in the United States. You can find a bit more information here via this link under the features column http://www.eheim.com/jager.htm

All Jager aquarium heaters come with a 1 year warranty from the date of purchase.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Fantastic. Thank you Walter. They really should find a way around this problem though. It's a bit confusing.
Thanks again,
Quentin

Yeah, went with a Stealth instead because didn't want the risk of "not following directions".

I got this to replace my stealth heater. It stopped working within a year. I hope this one will last longer.
