Jager Heater

Anyone ever have a Jager heater stay on when new? I just ordered a new heater for my nano tank and just setup everything the heater is just staying (on). I had a heater in the tank already and it was up to temp. My thermometer is showing 80F. I even tried to unplug the Jager heater and set it to 65F and it still seems to just stay on. I thought I remember havin a bit of issues like this with a Jager heater from about 4 years ago in my 65g but its been great since. Levi

If its the NEW style, they have a calibration pin thats in the top center of the heater. Set the heater into the tank and let it acclimate (30min to 1hr), then plug in and pull up on the calibration pin, turn the temp dial until the light just goes out or just comes on. Press the pin down into place and then rotate the temp dial to your desired temp setting...

Calibration is necessary as indicated above. However, the least reliable part of any heater is the control mechanism and when it fails, it usually fails in the "on" position. A ranco controller is highly recommended if you want to sleep well.
