First of all, thank you for the honor of Reefer of the Month. Unlike Tank of The Month it is not an honor we strive for. We strive to help others and learn ourselves. By partaking in this wonderful forum we open up our experiences and learn from others.
I have been keeping reef tanks for a very long time, 15+yrs probably. Like most others, I started with freshwater then went to softy tanks, I am now deciding to try to head towards SPS and a few LPS pieces. The thing I love about the hobby most is the distraction it provides from other distraction. There are times I go weeks and never turn on the TV. In fact my cable was once shut off and I totally forget because I didn't turn it on. I love to sit and watch the fish play and graze on rocks. Watching the snails, or crabs move in and around th crevices on our rocks. As my daughter has gotten older she has also taken up a more keen interest in the tank. She likes to watch things move around, and has actually noticed a few new things whenever I have introduced them to the tank. I think the more we can educate ourselves and others the greater this hobby can become and the more realistic it becomes to save our reefs.
Again, thank you to this wonderful community for this honor. I look forward to continue to help serve the community and continue to learn from the community.
